Cyril
Homer is our honorary president. He joined our group in
the Lawns on most Fridays in the late 1990s. Despite being slightly
older than us, he kept up with the drinking, standing and talking.
In fact, he was never slow to enlighten us on a number of subjects.
Unfortunately Cyril died in 2002, but he is not forgotten.
Alan Dixon is one of the original members from
1982, when we were based at the Rose and Crown. Alan still lives
in Chellaston and is regularly seen around the village.
Mike
Barker, who lived next door to Kelvin, was a founder member
of the FridayNighters. He left Chellaston in 1988.
Liz
Barker, Mike's wife, came to the early meals that we organised
but had left Chellaston by the time the FridayNighters had been
forced to become a mixed-sex group. Unfortunately, Liz died of cancer
in 2003.
Chris
Harrison was a regular FridayNighter in the 90s, until
he moved away from Chellaston. He still lives fairly locally and
turns up in the Lawns occasionally.
Sue
Harrison, who was married to Chris, was a fully paid-up
member of the group until she left Chellaston a few years ago. She
is welcome at all our functions.
Jim
Kay is Sue's partner and they attend parties as frequently
as they're able. Joining the FridayNighters was a culture shock
to Jim but he's now getting into the swing of things.
Mick
Malpass is a regular in the Lawns and joins us most Friday
evenings. |
